SEWING BASICS FOR ADULTS
2 hour session $30 (includes supply fee)
If sewing is new to you, or if you simply need a refresher, this class is for you. You will get acquainted with the sewing machine. Learn the basics of machine stitching, and proper pressing techniques. You will also be introduced to basic sewing supplies and, make a “first project” for which the supplies are provided.
SEWING BASICS FOR KIDS & TEENS
1 hour $16 (includes supply fee)
Get acquainted with the sewing machine. Learn the basics of machine stitching, and proper pressing techniques. Try out basic sewing supplies. Make a “first project” which you can take home with you. Instruction will be adapted to age group.
2 hour session $35
Tame that serger! Let's remove the intimidation factor. Learn how and when to serge. Become comfortable with threading your machine. Learn the basic stitches. If you are curious about sergers or contemplating a purchase, take this one on one class to learn what they are all about.

BEGINNER SEWING FOR ADULTS
3 hour session $42
After completion of SEWING BASICS, or if you already have basic sewing skills, you may continue with this ongoing class. In this “work at your own pace” class, you will work on projects, which are specifically designed for beginner learning. Book as many 3-hour sessions as required. You may do all the work in class, or work at home – you choose.
Minimum 2 students.
Start with this beginner project, then advance to a second project of your choice. These aprons are perfectly suited to a true beginner, or for those who would like to refresh skills. From here you can advance to sewing clothing or items for your home.
Custom apron - choose bistro or vintage style, then customize for your baker/gardener/artist or BBQ lover.
Instruction includes learning how to read a pattern, pattern layout, proper cutting techniques, pattern marking techniques, stitching skills including seams, stay stitching, seam finishing, hemming by machine.
BEGINNER SEWING FOR KIDS AND TEENS
2 hour session $30
After completion of SEWING BASICS, you may move on with this class. The projects in this series are specifically designed for beginner sewists. Work at your own pace. Book as many 2-hour sessions as required. You can do all of the sewing in class, or work at home – you choose. Minimum 2 students.
Projects could include the following or, you could choose a custom project with my guidance:
1. Chef’s Apron –, This is a great way to put your new sewing skills into action. You can do the basic apron, or, spend a little more time to fancy it up. Let the creativity flow! I’ll have lots of trims and embellishments at the ready.
New skills include how to read a pattern, pattern layout, proper cutting techniques, marking techniques, stitching techniques including seams, stay stitching, seam finishing, hemming by machine.
2. Mini Starfish Tote – Choose coordinating fabrics to add your personal style to this tote.
Add to your skills by following steps to construct straps, a lining and an easy pocket. Class includes a signature Sewing by the Sea starfish label to add to your tote.
3. PJ shorts or pants – Who doesn’t love a cozy pair of pj bottoms? Make them out of flannel, or cotton fabric. It’s an oldie but a goodie!
We will reinforce and add to your previous skills – basic tissue fitting, new seam finishes, construction of a casing for elastic. A great confidence builder!
KIDS AND TEENS STITCHING CLUB
1 ½ hour weekly class $84/month
Once you have completed BEGINNER SEWING or can show that you are confident with your sewing skills, you are eligible to join Sewing Club. This is a weekly program, running after school or during the evening. If there is enough interest, I will divide the Sewing Club into two groups by age, and could possibly add a second weeknight evening. Students will be able to choose from a variety of projects suited to their sewing level, interest and budget.
Currently scheduled for Wednesday's after school at 4:00 but email if interested, as the dates may change.
PALMER PLETSCH PATTERN FITTING CONSULTATION
2 hours $70 (includes fitting pattern)
In this class you will get an introduction to the Palmer Pletsch method of tissue fitting. Are you disappointed and frustrated in sewing garments that just don't fit? Have you stopped sewing garments altogether? Learn how to choose the correct pattern size to achieve fitting success. Discover how your body differs from a commercial pattern and learn to do the adjustments you require. This method can be used on any pattern that you buy. You can sew garments that fit properly.
1 hour session $16
Do you have a particular project in mind but need some help to get it done? Book as many hours as you need to get started or complete your project.
